The UAE is home to one of the largest Pakistani communities abroad, and many people found their first role there while still in Pakistan. Here's what to prepare, how hiring from abroad works, and how to reach UAE companies directly.
Is it realistic to get a UAE job from Pakistan?
Yes, with the right preparation. Many UAE employers prefer candidates already in the country, so make it easy for a company to choose you: experience the UAE needs (construction, engineering, logistics, hospitality, healthcare, finance, technology and more), documents ready, a clear CV, and a realistic start date.
Before you apply: get your documents ready
Attest your degree: HEC first
For most skilled jobs, a UAE work visa needs your educational certificates attested. For Pakistani degrees the usual order is the Higher Education Commission (HEC) first, then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Pakistan, then the UAE Embassy (Islamabad) or UAE Consulate (Karachi). Some employers also ask for UAE-side steps after you arrive. Make sure the name on your passport, CNIC and degree match exactly. The process can take several weeks, so start early.
Protector registration (BE&OE)
Pakistanis going abroad on an employment visa must register with the Protector of Emigrants, part of the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment (BE&OE). If you found the job yourself (direct employment), you can register online through BE&OE's e-Protector service; you'll need your employment contract and visa details. Recent reports say a police character certificate is also requested for UAE employment visas. Check the current requirements and fees on the BE&OE website. Protector registration is only for employment visas, not visit visas.
Licences for regulated jobs
Healthcare and some other professions need a UAE licence (for example from DHA in Dubai or DOH in Abu Dhabi). Look up the steps for your profession early.
How hiring from abroad works
The employer sponsors your work visa after making you an offer, and under UAE law recruitment costs are the employer's responsibility. Official offers can be checked on the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) system. If you use a recruitment agent in Pakistan, use only an Overseas Employment Promoter licensed by BE&OE, and check the licence first.
Searching in person: the UAE offers a job exploration visa for qualified job seekers (for example 60, 90 or 120 days, without a UAE sponsor), and some people visit to attend interviews. You can't work on a visit or job exploration visa. Check eligibility and current fees with ICP or GDRFA.
Your CV and email when you're in Pakistan
- Say where you are and when you can start, for example: "I'm currently based in Lahore, Pakistan, and can relocate to the UAE within one month."
- A clear, two-page CV with your nationality, phone number with country code and an email you check daily. Here's how to write the application email, with a sample.
- Mention attested documents or licences if you have them.
- Send in UAE office hours. The UAE is one hour behind Pakistan.
Reaching UAE companies from Pakistan
- Company careers pages: our Jobs board collects live openings from thousands of UAE companies, for example construction and trades jobs and logistics and driving jobs.
- Emailing companies directly: one personal email to the address each company publishes. Avoid downloaded "HR email lists": here's why.
- Paid CV distribution? Read what to check before you pay.
UAE Direct Apply sends your CV to UAE companies from your own Gmail, one personal email per company, during UAE working hours, and can say where you are and when you can relocate. You pick your role, industries and emirates, and see how many of the thousands of UAE companies match before you start. You can sign up with a Pakistani WhatsApp number, and your first 100 emails are free.
Avoiding job scams
Walk away if anyone asks you to pay for a job or a visa outside an official, licensed process, promises a very high salary with no interview, writes from a free email address, or sends an offer that can't be verified on MOHRE's system. Check that any agent is licensed by BE&OE.
